Model United Nations (MUN)

The experience of being at a Model United Nations (MUN) is unlike any other. The thrill, the excitement, the knowledge, the debates and all the other surrounding aspects of such an event are an unmatched experience on their own.

Here at Trio World School, we are allowing our children to experience these feelings and emotions first-hand with the introduction of the all-new MUN training sessions.

The sessions allow the children to explore themselves and look at real-world issues from a different point of view. The students are being trained on a range of aspects from body language to voice modulation and various other paradigms of public speaking.

For ICSE high school students, MUN is more than just an academic exercise; it is an opportunity to connect classroom learning with the realities of the wider world. It reinforces concepts from history, political science, geography, and economics, making these subjects come alive. Students learn to analyse global issues through multiple lenses and to think critically about how policies shape nations and communities.

Participating in MUN also helps students build confidence and clarity of thought, skills that are invaluable for board exams, higher education, and professional life. Whether they pursue careers in law, business, science, or the arts, the ability to communicate persuasively and reason logically will remain a lifelong asset.

Moreover, MUN nurtures empathy and cultural awareness. By representing different countries, students learn to appreciate diverse perspectives and understand the complexities of international cooperation. This not only broadens their worldview but also prepares them to become responsible, globally minded citizens.

FAQ's

MUN stands for Model United Nations. It is a simulation of the United Nations for students at TRIO World School.

MUN is conducted once a year. Topics are chosen from current events. Each student is assigned to be a delegate of a particular country. A real-world scenario or problem is assigned to them. They must then attempt to solve the issue at hand based on the policies and resources they have as a representative of that country. The students need to create policy documents, an opening speech, research and subsequently a resolution document on their assigned issue.

MUN helps students understand how the United Nations works. Students pick up skills like leadership, research, critical thinking, diplomacy, international relations, and teamwork.

It also gives them insight into policymaking and the formulation of proposal papers. For ICSE students, these skills complement their curriculum by strengthening analytical thinking, enhancing writing abilities, and refining communication skills all key elements for success in board examinations and competitive entrance tests.

In addition, the process of negotiation and debate teaches students to listen actively, respect differing opinions, and build consensus—traits that foster maturity and emotional intelligence.

MUN is open for students from class 8 to 10.
