Empowering Young Minds for Climate Action: An Inspiring Session by Ms. Seema Bali, Principal, TRIO World School

As the world grapples with escalating climate challenges, the role of education in shaping sustainable solutions is critical. The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), an independent, multidisciplinary organisation renowned for its work in research, policy, consultancy, and implementation continues to empower young minds through its Environment Education and Awareness (EEA) Division. By nurturing vision, leadership, and environmental responsibility, TERI is preparing the youth of today to lead the climate solutions of tomorrow.

As part of this commitment, TERI, in collaboration with Harit by HCL Foundation, organised the Youth Climate Innovators Power Up Workshop under the Youth Climate Innovation Challenge (YCIC). This initiative encourages college students in Bengaluru to identify local climate challenges and develop innovative, technology-driven solutions through a thoughtfully curated series of expert sessions, competitions, bootcamps, and exposure visits.

Ms. Seema Bali, Principal, Trio World School, delivered an impactful 60-minute expert talk titled “Innovation Storm: When Educational Institutions Become Climate Solution Hubs” during workshop.
Drawing from her extensive experience in progressive education leadership, Ms. Bali highlighted how educational institutions can move beyond traditional teaching models to become active incubators of climate innovation. She emphasised that schools and colleges are uniquely positioned to foster critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving for addressing complex environmental issues.

During the session, Ms. Bali spoke passionately about the importance of integrating climate education into everyday learning, encouraging interdisciplinary approaches, and creating safe spaces where students can ideate, experiment, and innovate. She underscored the role of educators as facilitators and mentors who inspire students to connect academic learning with real-world climate challenges.
Ms. Bali’s insights reinforced the idea that when educational institutions actively support innovation, they can become powerful hubs for sustainable transformation.

The Youth Climate Innovators Power Up Workshop continues to serve as a dynamic platform for young innovators to learn from experts, collaborate with peers, and refine their ideas into actionable climate solutions. Sessions like these reaffirm the belief that empowering youth through education is one of the most effective pathways to building a resilient and sustainable future.

TRIO World School has its very own student-led green campus initiative that encourages sustainability through meaningful action, innovation, and environmental consciousness. Such initiatives are also part of our Global Citizenship and Community Outreach Programmes.
